Solutions: 5 charging hubs with 12 fast chargers (50KW)

Uber, in an exclusive partnership with Power Dot, created an extensive network of EV charging hubs. Drivers are thus able to use 2 hubs in the Porto district (Maia and Bonfim) and 3 hubs in Lisbon (Airfut, Doca de Santa Amaro and Tires). Each hub has the capacity to simultaneously charge between 4 to 8 cars and has been sized to allow for further on-site expansion.
Portugal will work as a pilot to expand the network to other locations in Europe.

The spaces are designed to be comfortable for drivers while waiting for charging, offering cleaning services, Wi-fi, coffee and other amenities.

“This partnership is in line with our mission: to create charging solutions for electric vehicles in order to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels in mobility. We believe that a greener future involves more shared and electric mobility and that is why we have developed this economical and convenient charging solution for all Uber partners and drivers.”

Luis Pinto, Power Dot CEO and responsible for UberGREEN fleet solutions when it was the first 100% electric on-demand travel option in the world launched in Portugal in 2016. In Portugal, Uber estimates that the electric vehicles available in the application already save 40 tons of CO2 emissions weekly, 2080 tons annually.

“We are very proud to celebrate this partnership with Power Dot that will allow for more sustainable mobility and support the community of drivers who travel with 100% electric cars every day in Portugal”, says Mariana Ascenção, Communication Director of Uber in Portugal.

Currently Uber serves users in the Metropolitan Areas of Lisbon and Porto, as well as in the Algarve Region, Braga and Guimarães and Coimbra. Since Uber’s arrival in Portugal, more than 2 million downloads of the application have been made.
